Where can l find free online tutorials to learn how to build cPanels/WHMs? I've basically been wanting to learn how to build my own cPanel/WHM in ANY programming language, database formats, operating systems, etc for the longest time, with any feature that I want to add for my own personal use and web hosting needs. I recently found the zPanel website where you can download a free cPanel/WHM and I post new features that I want to see in future versions.
Well, with some of the posts that I posted about what I want to see, they would either discuss it to see if they want to put it, or they would say that they can't; much like anyone would do anywhere else.
The thing is, that I want to learn to build a cPanel/WHM that is for my own personal use without having to wait until someone else decides to put the features that I ask for in the cPanel/WHM, and without the restrictions of them saying that they can't put it into the cPanel/WHM.
That is a tough one. I'd bet your best language is PHP. What I post below is only for Unix/Linux systems because I don't know much about Windows web servers.
You'd need to have an apache server running on a port other than port 80 and running as the root user. The reason for this is so that your PHP could modify any files. From there, it is very simple to modify the correct files for things like DNS entries, Email Accounts and httpd.conf for adding domains.
I know that tktech has built one so he may be able to help you out.
As for tutorials, I did a quick search and couldn't find anything. Also, I've moved your thread.

Dam it I found a site about this but lost the link! It was a perfect tutorial for this! Now I cant even find it on google! Duh
I can't find anything on this either. I doubt there are any tutorials. What Jordan said was relevant though. What OS are you creating the CP for?
Yeah there are I just cant 're-find' the link!
Why do you want to build your own cPanel? The cPanels the hosting companies give you are good enough.
