    Language to fit my needs?

I realize you're probably bombarded with requests like these, I trolled around a bit to see if there was a similar answer.

I work with human research in SPSS and Excel, and while I'm happy with my abilities as they stand I'd like to break free of the constraints of programs I'm working within. My strengths and hopes are in data management, parsing of electronic files, and setting up formulas within that data. I'm also fascinated by the stock market and want to create my own markers for the health of a company compared to its stock price. I'd need a programming language robust enough to handle 1000+ variables over the depth of thousands of subjects... so it would have to be strong enough to handle the comparisons between those which can range into the high millions when it calculates the whole.

Is there a programming language in particular that would suit my needs over any other language?

You will probably want a compiled language. (I include Java in this case.)
Programming is a branch of mathematics.

I'll say using java with an Oracle Database would do it... since java is an innovative language and it has many API (application programming interfaces) including one that works with excel.. and Oracle DB because of the PL/SQL (Procedural Language/Structured Query Language) ... so good luck.. if you need help with something just post it !
