Are there any desktop client softwares for the MySQL database? I like phpMyAdmin but would prefer to use a client software package. Any Free Ones?

I've used one called SQLYog... http://webyog.com/en/
I didn't use it that much, but it seemed to be a stable little app.

I've used SQLYog, works well. I generally stick to phpMyAdmin though.

I have only used phpMyAdmin and don't know about others and I don't use phpMyAdmin very often too. But I use on some times.

I always like to use Putty. It's a great tool to access your database at very fast speed. You can edit, transfer, etc. your database securely.

Hope this will provide you some help.

Putty is for SSH, not necessarily a Client Software for MySQL. Once SSH'd into your site you can access MySQL through the console but it is pure text-based.
