Default FF3 and FF in general is a big dissappointment!

The title says it all!

Both the new, oh-so-super Firefox 3, and all the previous versions of Firefox have been big disappointments, especially compared to the new great versions of Internet Explorer (I'm thinking of the versions from 5 to the latest release, 7) and I'm sure version 8 will be just as good as the previous ones, if not better!

Internet Explorer IS better than Firefox!

Okay, I admit that the first versions of Internet Explorer wasn't the best, but since version 5, like I mentioned, it has been absolutely great. I've made a list of the reasons why I think Internet Explorer is better than Firefox, which it is.
  1. Firefox copied Internet Explorer, as Internet Explorer was here way before Firefox.
  2. Firefox does crash more often than Internet Explorer. It has been scientifically proven in various tests. I can't remember the URLs to the tests. But it has been proven!
  3. Internet Explorer comes FREE with Windows! Firefox doesn't.
  4. I tried using my plug-ins from Internet Explorer in Firefox, and none of them worked. The conclusion is that plug-ins work way better with Internet Explorer!
  5. Firefox doesn't render CSS properly. It doesn't even have support for great tags like, <!--[if IE x]>, where x represents a version-number. Internet Explorer does!
  6. Internet Explorer was made and is still being maintained by a BILLION-dollar company! Firefox was made by a group of people who had this ideology called open-source. The whole idea about "open-source" is long gone, but the Firefox-people refuse to give up.
  7. Many websites do actually only work in Internet Explorer! If you load them in Firefox they look all stupid, but not in Internet Explorer. It renders it perfectly!
  8. Firefox is trying to update (or at least checking for updates) every time it loads. It would be way better if the updates just came as the normal Windows-updates, like Internet Explorer. Then the user would be without all this "there's a new update" from the browser all day long.

I know that this thread probably wasn't necessary, as I know most people are using Internet Explorer, at least at all the Windows-forums I've been active at earlier. I just wanted to convert the last Firefox-users out there. Fortunately, there's only few of them left.

Like I said, do I think that most of you agree. But comments are appreciated anyway!!!!

- Billy Bob

I understand your effort to start "flaming" threads; but it's useless. Only a simple minded person would flame in this thread. Anyways, if you like to talk about "copying" apps and things. I would say Windows is just a copy of Hackintosh.
How would you react to it?

You are a funny guy. \o/!

The initial release of Firefox was on November 9, 2004. According to the statistics gathered by w3schools (Browser Statistics). Not including the stats gathered for the release of Firefox 3 (and Firefox's Genus World Record of 8,002,530 unique download in twenty-four hours) Firefox has 41% of the browser market share which almost doubles any single version of Internet Explorer. Although the summation of all versions of Internet Explorer exceeds that of Firefox, you have to remember it is the default browser on all versions of Windows, distributed by 95% of all computer manufactures. Out of that 54% of Internet Explorer users, how many think IE is "good enough," and thus do not even try Firefox? Out of that 54%, how many users do not even know of Firefox's existence? Do to the previous questions, it is no surprise IE is in the lead. However, what is surprising, is that 41% of all users who surf the internet, will go out of their way to download a third party software to replace the default crapware FORCED upon them. Whats more interesting, if you look at the trends, Firefox is becoming MORE popular while IE is becoming LESS popular. Do you actually think, if Firefox was installed by default along side a fresh installation of Windows, Internet Explorer would even exist?

If Internet Explorer did its job, Firefox would not have to. Lets start with security. I remember the days of browsing warez sites with Internet Explorer. Next time I restarted my computer, my browser's homepage hijacked, desktop background changed, new tool bars installed, and wonderful popup's when browsing Google. Oh, I cant forget about the tabbed browsing, built in RSS feeds, anti-phishing and malware protection, and developer tools Firefox COPIED from Internet Explorer? Oh wait, I think I got that one backwards...

Internet Explorer is forced upon its users. Most of all, you fail to understand what FREE means. I paid for Windows, didn't you? Free software is software that gives you the user the freedom to share, study and modify it. The EXACT definition of OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE.

Straight from Chris Wilson [The IE Platform Architect] "...we [Microsoft Internet Explorer] have some bugs in interacting with width and height, which is one of the contributing factors to us not passing the Acid 2 test suite." (Albatross! : IE and CSS "Compliance")

I could negate all your points, and I could go on even longer about your comment regarding Open Source software, but I'll just let them alone. Lastly, according to Zimbrablog (And The Winner of the Browser Wars is…. » Zimbra :: Blog), Firefox renders pages TWICE as fast as Internet Explorer. Not to mention it uses twice as less memory: (http://lifehacker.com/assets/resourc...mory_test1.php). I could list a lot more than eight reasons as to why FF > IE. However, as for me, I am happy using the minority browser, even though it uses less resources, is faster, and more secure.

Of cours fire fox does not come with microsoft that would be like KFC (owned by pepsi) selling coke products. The Open Sorce comunity is not dead, it is acualy growing in popularity. I use IE but only because my proffesors do and i need my sites to render corectly for them. That is only a precaution of course all of my sites render well on both browsers. Sites not rendering corectly in one browser and not the other is usualy due to programmer stupidity. Also the working in one browser and not the other works the other way around, some sites work well with FF and not with IE it all goes back to the developer. I am asuming when you say that FF crashes more and it has been scientificly proven you are refering to the statistics? if so you should know that statistics can be made to say whatever you whant them to say. And let us not forget that most of microsofts technologys were stolen from other people. It was not copied from MS if it was then they would not render diffrently and firefox has a lot of security precosions built in. Also i belive most people now adays (that are good with computers) use FF, I attend a university were most the majors involve computers and most all the students use FF in one way or the other.

Everyone has their own opinion and I find that most people like FF better once they use it. For you to like IE better is odd but your choice. I can't stop laughing when I read your post to respond to your points individually.

When I code webpages, they always work better in FF than IE. I have never had an issue where FF doesn't display a page the way I want it to. There have been MANY counts on which IE has not rendered it properly, and hence I have to write extra code to compensate.

Oh, certainly - FF leads the way in terms of extensions. IE has a few plugins, but nothing like FF's extensions - and of course, it's all open-source...

And then there's the whole security issue, where FF gets updated much more often...
