Re: FF3 and FF in general is a big dissappointment!

The FF plugins are way better than the IE ones! There are tons of customization plugins.

    Let's continue to John's post.

    # Internet Explorer was made and is still being maintained by a BILLION-dollar company! Firefox was made by a group of people who had this ideology called open-source. The whole idea about "open-source" is long gone, but the Firefox-people refuse to give up.
NO, open-source is not long gone... what about all the new linux open-source distros that are being created everyday? Open-source is the way to go! It's long*gone for those companies like MS, that are only interested in seeing profits, not to make this world a better place.

    # Many websites do actually only work in Internet Explorer! If you load them in Firefox they look all stupid, but not in Internet Explorer. It renders it perfectly!
To my amusement... my websites are rendered correctly on FF straight away, on IE you have to use workarounds and fixes. Why do you think that they have <!--[if IE x]>????? FF doesn't need!

    # Firefox is trying to update (or at least checking for updates) every time it loads. It would be way better if the updates just came as the normal Windows-updates, like Internet Explorer. Then the user would be without all this "there's a new update" from the browser all day long.
FF isn't an official software of Windows, so it can't some with windows update! Besides that, it's better to check every time it loads, that makes it more secure, because as soon as there will be an update, you will get it.

Re: FF3 and FF in general is a big dissappointment!

I have been really busy lately, and that explains why I haven't been replying to this thread before now.

I must say that I'm rather surprised. I was in the believe that most people were using Internet Explorer, and to be honest, I still am. I was just lucky I found this forum, where, apparently, the majority is Firefox-users. This give me the great opportunity of changing the minds of you, and I already tried with this thread, but you're for some reason so narrow-minded (no offense, you're probably a bunch of nice people, but in this area...) that you choose to close your eyes for the facts I came with.

I will try to answer, and reply to your replies anyway. Here it comes.

First of all: like you see, if you count all of the percents of Internet Explorer together, it exceeds Firefox. Users are different and have different needs, so it's naturally that they're using the version of Internet Explorer which suits their need the best.
And the fact that it's the standard browser of Windows, just shows how good it is. A browser has to be good to be chosen by such a big operating system. And that Windows is distributed by 95% of computer manufacturers, like you say yourself, just shows how good Windows is.

All of them think Internet Explorer is good. Of course they do. If they didn't, they wouldn't use it. And as they are happy with Internet Explorer there's no reason to try another browser.

Some do, and some do not. But again: there's no reason for them to know Firefox exists. 54% of the users are already happy!

If you check the statistics, of the website you provided yourself, you can see that the usage of Internet Explorer increased a lot from 2002 to 2003, while it only increased a little for Firefox. I'm sorry to say it, but you're definitely wrong on this one.

Until now has Firefox not even been in the considerations of being the default browser of Windows. If it once qualifies (when it's finally good enough) and if it's actually being chosen as default browser we can talk about it.

Sounds like you're not having decent security on your computer. Have you considered the Windows in-built firewall? It's excellent.

You have to pay for Windows, simply because it's better. I would rather get quality, than quantity. And about open-source software: like I mentioned in the thread, it's long gone, so please leave out ancient history.

At least is the Internet Explorer-team open about their problems, while the Firefox-team is hiding their problems from their users.

That's probably because the site was optimized for Firefox. It's always a bad thing to optimize a website for a specific browser.

The Firefox-team are just making some fast fix, which may not work in the long run. The Internet Explorer-team cares about their fixes and take the time it takes.

Well.. it is because we are OPEN minded, that we choose our own browser and what we liike.. we don't use IE just because M$ told us to!

There's no such thing as "Hackintosh," so it's hard for me to answer the question of yours.
    In fact .. there is

I have to laugh at this one! IE ships with windows, because IE is an M$ product! Not because it is the best.
All of them think Internet Explorer is good. Of course they do. If they didn't, they wouldn't use it. And as they are happy with Internet Explorer there's no reason to try another browser.
Nope.. they are just too narrow-minded to give it a try, and try something else... they are too afraid!

It is being the default browser of some Linux distros, it will not be the default browser of windows, because it is not an M$ product.

    This is too funny!

you don't need to optimize it for FF, FF follows the standards!!

Hate to break it to you but that was 5 years ago. That's a hugely long time in the tech industry.
You have to pay for Windows, simply because it's better. I would rather get quality, than quantity. And about open-source software: like I mentioned in the thread, it's long gone, so please leave out ancient history.
Uh, no. Just no. I'm typing this on a desktop computer which is running 100% free, open-source software. It is very fast, even though the hardware is 5 years old. Many things are better when they're free, for example sex. This google trends search shows that there is more interest in ubuntu linux than in the latest version of windows. You are a supremely ignorant person if you believe that open-source software is history. Don't raise this point again, because you are simply wrong.

In fact, I'm starting to think you are only posting these ignorant, imbecilic comments because you want to aggravate firefox, linux, and mac users. There's a word for that: TROLLING.

Re: FF3 and FF in general is a big dissappointment!

    Three points:
    1) my laptop runs on open-source software. EEE PC's ship with Linux and FireFox by default.
    2) I can debug JavaScript in FireFox with a plugin. I can't in IE. As a web developer, that makes IE very difficult to use.
    3) When I find standards-compliant code to use during my development, it consistently works in FireFox, it doesn't always work in IE. For me, that indicates IE is broken.

Just out of curiosity, have you used FireFox?

Yeah, I was going to ask that myself, did he ever use Firefox?

But I was sure he would respond something like

Why should I? IE is the best
    Lol.

A Hackintosh is a pc build to "almost" look and be functional as a normal mac. Plus it will be able to install the OS X system... I tried to make my own but couldn't get it to work as I wanted, so I gave up.
