Victor is on a distinguished road
Default Linux OS

Hello everyone, I just have a quick question. In my Computer Engineering class, we are going to build a computer from the ground up. So, I asked my teacher if I could put Linux on it. However, I don't know very much about Linux. I've never used (which is why I'd like to use Linux). I decided to read a little bit of background on Wikipedia, and it appears that there is not a particular project or company in charge of developement, that people just develop it and share it (sorry if I'm mistaken), now the question. What is good Linux OS and where can I get it?

Thank you very much in advance!

I like (and prefer) openSuSe which you can download here: Download - openSUSE - it comes with YaST which makes it easy for beginners.

Another good one and popular one is Ubuntu - Download Ubuntu | Ubuntu

You can try the others, it is all a matter of personal preference.

Slackware would be worth considering if you want to dig around in the guts of the OS a bit.
