One's experience with Vista has a lot to do with their PC's performance. Personally I've never used it, and I plan on waiting until the service pack comes out before I do.
Good luck with your fathers friend. People who know absolutely nothing tend to get on my nerves. Usually before I lend my expertise to someone, they need to know how to make use of the most valuable tool on the internet - Google. If they cant Google, I get real agitated. ![]()

Well believe me he doesn't know how to Google. That's for sure! I'm going tomorrow because it seems that he has some problems with the internet.
And believe me, I don't have any hurry to upgrade to Vista, I'm happy as I am. It's just a modded version of XP! |

Nothing for to hurry to change your OS, Windows Vista still isn't ready. It's with many bugs, errors, and there aren't many programs for it, still many of games won't run in Vista, so the best opinion it's to run Windows XP, until the Service Pack 1 releases.

Well.. I just found this thread by coincidence...
So, I use Vista on my laptop now... well, with a powerful PC it's not bad.. but still XP is way faster on my laptop (had to install it once to make a backup) next time, I think I'll just keep XP running... |

I remember the first day I got it (a 2 day pre-release from a professor), I couldn't stand how buggy it still was! In my opinion it has only marginally improved since. |

I use a modded ubuntu at home, but I have to use either XP or vista at school, depending on which computers are free. To me both XP and vista seem incredibly, unbelievably slow considering the computers are only a year old, however I can still tell that vista is a bit slower.
