Hello,
I managed to recover a part of a .mpg video, unfortunately the beggining of the entire file(all parts plugged together) is missing.
Afaik, MPEG files are made out of data frames, would it be possible to make an MPEG video out of the "first valid frame" of the part I have until the last?
Thanks for your help.
The part you recovered won't play at all? MPEG is typically very resilient against corruption. What steps have you already taken?
You should try playing it in VLC.
Unlike Windows Media Player, it is not so stubborn when streaming parts of files and you can use it to stream into a valid file.

Oh I've tried VLC already, but I think there is something worse with these files, I think they come from a disk crash recovery, something like that...
I've tried using a python mpeg library to recover it, to no avail.
I think I'll just never know whats inside this video :S
Probably not. Like said before, MPEG is very resilient. If VLC player didn't play it, chances are there isn't anything left of the file. Sorry...
