    system 32 permissions?

My desktop that is running vista has been dead for a while now and I decided to start trying to fix it again. I swapped out my hard drive and it got rid of most of my BSOD errors i was getting.I updated my drivers , I ran "problem reports and solutions", and cleaned my registry with Ccleaner and it fixed a few other problems. I am down to two errors 0XA and 0XD1. I ran WinDbg and found out that the remaining problem is caused by my ecache.sys file which is corrupt. I copied my ecahe.sys file from my laptop and attempted to replace the one on my desktop with it. Vista said I did not have permission so i went in and attempted to give myself (the administrator account) complete control of the system 32 folder but it said access denied. anyone no another way that i can get the file corrected? or way to get it so i can replace the file?

Live CD with Linux. Boot into the Live CD and copy the file on the hard-drive.

thanks winged. How long does it usually take for ubuntu to load off the disk? I tried both of my ubuntu disks and after selecting "Try ubuntu withought making changes to your computer" it gets the gray bar at the top and bottom like its loading the desk top than it seems to freeze. I give it about 4 minutes to load after it stops then I turn it off. Should i be giving it more time?

That sounds like there may be a hardware error going on, or another problem.

Alright, thank you. I am going to continue troubleshooting it as if the problem were the software because I have already swapped the hard drive and ran ram diagnostics, I can't afford to get a new g.card or replace the mobo at the moment so the software is my last hope until I can get a job working more hours.
