Windows 7 XP mode is a joke

One of my friends gained a hacked copy of Windows 7. We were playing around with it and then downloaded XP mode softwares for it. It is nothing but Virtual PC running **** without the desktop. This is called "Unity" in vmware. They just stole some other effing technology and renamed it. Not sure wtf I expected but I suppose I was looking for a right-click, run in XP Mode option that was real and not a pretend virtual machine session trying to trick people.

I have never heard they promised it not to be in virtual machine? And as it needs 15 Gb hard disk, it sounds to me as it would be a virtual machine with a complete xp installation...

I have to agree with you !
I feel kinda blown by the XP mode...
By default dreamweaver 8 and MX 2004, where products I got as gifts from adobe. However I can't run them in Win7 nor in Wine. So I tried XP mode. DID not work and feels kinda lame. Plus you can't run old games in XP mode...
So to sum it XP-mode is a crippled version of Virtual PC.

XP Mode in vista blows too IMO! The main reason I still have XP is because I love my Nintendo 64 Emulators wayy to much! I have only played around with Windows 7 way back a few versions ago and the look and feel did not change much from Vista which is another thing I did not like about Vista.

Agreed. I expected more than what it turned out to be as well. I could have installed Windows XP in VMWare and used unity...

For me, It would have been nice just to see 7 bring back code that these games need.

I haven't had any issues with xp mode on my quadcore pc, my laptop is another ball park.

I will still more than likely end up with xp on at least 1 of my computers.

Technically speaking, it is. It uses the same Kernel with major improvements.
