Catch All Email Account

I recently setup a catch all email account, one that gets anything@mydomain.com and forwards it to an email account that I actually check often. After several days of doing this I started receiving email rejections and it appears that someone is sending email using anything@mydomain.com such as

asfasdf@domain.com
iywer@domain.com
etc....

Anyone ever run into this problem before and know what I can do? How do I stop these people from using my domain in their reply to field????

Odd, are you sure that your SMTP server isn't open and people are using it to spam other people?

On a slightly different note, have found catchall emails incredibly useful to find out where spammers get my email address from, e.g. for this site I could have used codecall@mydomain.com - then if I start getting spam to that email know where its come from (not saying you guys would do that though, just an example )

Nightracer, I get a lot of that as well and I'm at a loss as what to do about it.

How exactly does this "Catch-All" email address work? How does it help catch spammers?
