Hello
Looking for a program to recover my data.
My old partition schema entailed the following file-systems;
NTFS
Ext3
FAT32
HFS+
Although I didn't have anything of value on the ext3 partition, so don't worry about finding a software that can recover ext3. Most important is NTFS. Seconded by HFS+.
I've seen a whole spectrum of software's, and tried a few of them.
Winternals Disk Commander 1.1
Media Tools 5.1 Professional - Hard Drive Data Recovery Software for Mac, File Recovery Software, Digital Photo Recovery Software for Mac/Windows
But neither seem to be able to do exactly what I want. Biggest issue is that neither can write to NTFS.
Also tried TestDisk... but can't seem to work out how to use it.
Please help me recover my deleted partitions.
Thanks in advance,
Panarchy
PS: If you were wondering how they got deleted, blame the new ubuntu installation.
I have no experience in recovering deleted partitions but I am curious why/how Ubuntu deleted it. Are you sure it was Ubuntu's fault or did you mess up the partition scheme in fdisk during install?
Nup
It was ubuntu's fault. It couldn't read the partitions on my hard-disk (sda1) but I thought it could, so instead it just removed everything and installed itself.

try with "GetDataBack for NTFS v3.0" .. worked for me![]()
Getdataback for ntfs is what works for me also.
Ubuntu sometimes doesn't read the partition signatures correctly. Try running the windows cd and repair the windows partition and boot record from the recovery console. I think its fixmbr then fixboot.
Then run the live ubuntu cd and then install grub. This should fix your problems.
Also if the partition isn't erased, partition commander 10 has built in tools to fix all partitions and boot them all correctly.
Thanks...
Was actually able to recover a partition using TestDisk. The HFS+ one. I won't worry about the ext3 one...
But the NTFS one, now there's something important!
Ah... GetDataBack for NTFS... couldn't really get it to work. Burnt it to a BartPE CD, didn't boot up!
Followed it to the word of the youtube vid!

PS: Will try PowerSuite next...
