At work, I connect my laptop to the internet via an Ethernet cable (RJ45) and sometimes, like twice or more daily, I get disconnected from the internet and get only local access.
I then just restart or disable/enable the connection and I get internet again. Is there any 'logical' explanation for this?
DHCP could be renewing addresses.
Well, my home router does that, I don't get disconnected!
Besides that, why would that only happen to me? All the other computers stay connected.
This happened to me at work as well. Turns out the server was setup to only allow persistent connections for two hours before the lease expired. When it expires, you need to manually renew it.
Go to the command line and type "ipconfig /renew"
No clue why its only happening to you.
Well, my home router leases the IP every 2 hours too (although now I changed the settings to permanent IP's) and I never got disconnected..
But thanks, I'll use that command instead of enable/disable the connection.
