How does a scanner work? I mean I see mine flashing and making all sort of colors.... how can those flashing colors capture the image? something like a camera?

This sounds like a rather technical question and i honestly don't know but i think it involves some sort of photo sensors who capture the reflected light and separate it into different colors according to frequency and then translate it to digital.
