I just purchased a new motherboard that is fried. The way you can tell is if you remove everything (hard drive, cd-rom, ram, video card, etc) except for the CPU and ram do you see the bios on your monitor? If no, when you remove the ram do you get beeps from the PC speaker?

Take the CPU out and make sure it is seated correctly. Some motherboards have a jumper that disabled the motherboard so it does not use battery life during transport. Make sure you do not have this jumper (it should be in your manual).

The motherboard I bought actually had bent pins where the CPU is placed. Check that area thoroughly.

So if you get no signal of life.. it is properly fried, should smell like tasty chips ready to eat
