One of my friends just bought a new quad core, but he has quite some over heating problems.. as soon as he starts a game the temperature goes 90 degrees! I don't think that is normal... What do you think that may cause all this heat?

He may have poor air circulation inside of his case. Did he buy the entire computer or just the CPU?
No, he built it himself, he bought all the parts. But now he old me that he solved it. It was just the heatsink's conductor.
