Alright, I have an essentially UNKNOWN "865-series" mobo, with a Phoenix BIOS chip attached to it, and an Intel 3.0GHz processor. Everything works fine, my problem is when I opened it up today due to a fan making a horrible sound (fortunately that's also not the problem, I've identified the fan, and it's that el-cheapo $6 fan on the back), and I noticed the heatsink normally attached to my Mobo's (what I can only presume is the) BIOS chip was not attached at all. Normally it's attached using a Z-clip, however a Z-clip requires two U-shaped anchors on each side to provide for a way to keep it attached. Unfortunately, one of them has broken off of my mobo, and has apparently been lost to the oblivion so I don't have one at all. Right now I have my computer on it's side, and the heatsink is attached by nothing more than gravity.
I'm wondering if anyone knows a way I can ghetto-fix this, seeing as I can't really afford a new motherboard based solely on a ridiculously small problem. Not just that, with a new motherboard comes the cost of replacing any incompatible parts, of which there are probably many (namely my graphics card, which truth be told needs to be replaced anyway, and my processor). So yeah... I'm calling upon the good citizens of CodeCall to help me out of my horrible situation! What are your suggestions?
Wow I changed my sig!
Twisted paperclip?
