Well if you have not noticed I have been playing around with a ton of hardware recently, I never really cared about it having the "Im just a programmer" attitude, but its really quite interesting, and obviously you can tell from all the forum posts a bit difficult...
Anywho well basically I got new ram for my computer, it turned out it was incompatible (got 6 beeps or something from my mb), I remember I had another motherboard somewhere, still integrated into a chassis I just put all the parts, new ram, dvd drive, harddrive. The motherboard, processor, and 2 fans were already installed.
I successfully turned it on, could run into bios, dvd drive, ram, and hdd was detected fine it looked like, but when I ran to get my OS on it started then rebooted, then started, and rebooted... endless cycle..
What could possibly be wrong? I tried replacing out a few other things like my power thing which I know works since I am using it now, and the hdd is working now, the dvd drive works etc... but what else could it be? Just a bad motherboard? Or processor? That is really the only two things left...
Well I am using the hdd now so I do not think thats it, just cause it works on this box.
Did you take your harddrive from your other computer out and put it in this one, with Windows already installed?
Current computer, I took most of its parts, and put it into the other computer case that already had a motherboard and a processor.
So yes, the current one with XP pro, I took it out and put it in the other one.. the processors are the same I think tho
Just wondering, did you successfully boot up to XP or what happen can I have more info?
I did not actually, basically I got some ram, it didnt work in my computer, so I tried putting some parts together and seeing if my ram would work in my other motherboard which it did but it wouldnt load xp correctly, the hdd is fine since I am using it now, and the power thing is fine since I used it, I switched out the ram and all of them showed up in the bios including the one I am using now.
Oh well =/
The guy said he would exchange my ram for the correct kind (low intensity?) so I should be fine with the box I got now
