Hello,
Is a processor the same device as a CPU?
Yes. CPU = Central Processing Unit.
A CPU is a processor, but it is not the only processor. You probably also have a GPU - graphics processing unit.
Or you could also have a NPU :<
Network Processing Unit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Or a BPU (Business Processing Unit) - oh wait, thats not in a computer.
Or a Global Processing Unit.
As I know I don't think we can say a processor is the same thing as a CPU. It used to be, but nowadays we have processors for other functions (like the GPU) and even multiple processors on a single chip. I'd call the chip as a whole the CPU and the 4 cores processors.

Actually, your terms are a bit mixed up. Generally, the CPU is called a processor, with the individual literal or virtual (hyper-threading) cores being called ... cores.
So my new Quad core Processor/CPU has 4 cores.
