    Computer Problem!? - Help Please

Alright, I am fairly good with computers but a few days ago something happened to my friends computer that totally made me confused. I can not think of any possible reason for this to happen.

Alright, So he has had the PC for about 2 - 3 weeks almost a month. He turned on his computer then started playing it for a bit before he went to bed. He said he had left the computer on but when woke up it was turned off. He assumed his wife had turned it off so he went to turn it on again and the drive caught on fire 0.0. Perfectly fine computer had about 7 fans in it and all of the hardware for the computer was perfectly fine. It burnt up his 4gigs of ram + his drive is useless...

    What happened?

Sounds like mis-wired hardware. You should have a warranty on it if it is that new.

I think you should stop worrying about the computer, and get it replaces. I don't know about Texas, but here in the UK you are entitled to a full refund, regardless of whether you have a warranty or not.

If the computer posed a hazard to yourself or your household, call up the company that manufactures the computer. They will almost always set up a replacement rather then deal with legal shizzam. Apple, for example, sends you (for a macbook) a large packing envelope, prepaid. You send them the computer, and they ship you a new one once they verify it was their hardware that caused the issue.

Thank you for the help, Turns out it was not the computer a tech offered to look at it for free. The 4 gigs of ram that he had purchased for the computer was bad. One of the sticks had been destroyed. He did not know when he put it in his computer. It looked perfectly fine. He has the right to sue Fry's now for putting his home at risk with bad hardware. Then Fry's can go sue the company they got it from
