Hey guys!
I have myself a dv6500 (sub. dv6622enca) and was wondering if anyone has had any issues with this machine massively overheating. I've cleaned the board to perfection, and the fan and sink is perfect. However, I've peaked at 150C internally, and run at 75C underclocked to 800Mhz. Running at a normal 1900Mhz, I hit ~100C, with ~84C being the lowest temperature. I've forced the fan to run at 100%, and I've removed the shutdown threshold (set by nVidia to 105C) so that it doesn't immediately shut off and lose everything.
Anyone else had an issue with this laptop? Its always run very hot, but the fact I can cook an egg on it sucks.
Hoah for a new AlianWare!
You got an alienware laptop? You do realize they aren't very mobile right?
Wasn't this laptop fairly new? Have you thought about purchasing a new Mac? The Airbook looks very nice in person but it doesn't have a lot of power.
I don't care about portability, or I wouldn't have also been looking at a 19' Acer that ticks in at 10lbs, lol
Ever figure out the problem?
if u haven't already resolved this one i'd suggest calling HP support. It sounds like it is a hw issue. if first level support gives u a hard time push it on up the ladder till u get someone who trusts u. obviously being kind will get u a whole lot farther then being a jerk, so don't get too frustrated right off the bat if they ask u to reinstall the OS or something like that![]()
the key is to explain to the support people everything you've already done to troubleshoot so they can note it.
there very well may be a recall on some of the hw and it wouldnt matter if u had a current warranty on the equipment if there's a recall.
hope u get it figured out.
When things work the way they should it's a wonderful thing! It's the should part that gets me. visit me @ www.unseenbattle.net and drop me a line.
Well, what are you running while your laptop goes over 100C? Games? or just Vista?
Check the task manager and see if there is any application taking like 99% of your CPU, once this happened on my PC and I went nuts! It got like 85C, until I figured it out and killed that process.
