I am a new Joomla user and wondering if anyone can help with my problem.
I'm trying to add a small amount of security to the simple download component, wanting public users to only see a couple categories while registered users can view all categories and downloads.
Menu link = Public
Category I want public = Public
Download I want public = Public
Category I want private = Registered
Download I want private = Registered
That's how I have it set, however, as a guest I can view ALL categories and ALL downloads. Am I missing something?

Hey rtownely,
I'll look into this, the feature may have never been implemented because I don't remember ever working with permissions. One of those things that just slipped my mind.....
I wonder is it possible to add uploads such mp3 directly to some folder and that is it ?
so basicly i dont have to add file by file ?
Yes, just add the directory and set it as a Link. It should work fine because this component will simply forward the user to that address when set as a link.
In backend Cancel button not working when no Tilte or Name is given, message 'File must have a name'
Request for:
Make category linkable:
Usage:
I am a math instructor have my class syllabus and weekly homework posted online for student to download, I have created a menu link to ionFiles called Courses and would like to be able to create sub-menu links to each category/course example: Basic math, Pre-Algebra and Beginning Algebra.
Make each Category hide and expand, example if Basic math category is selected not to display other categories.
That is not a bad suggestion and it will be included in the next release. I'll try to get the next release out in two weeks when I return to the states. Thanks!
Hey all, i just installed ionfiles..and have been adding files for download to the categories i made. Now somehow in the backend i only get to see the first 30 files, while i have added more than 30! The next button is not clickable..and when pressing show 50 results i get a blank page..where did the 30+ files go to??![]()
Sorrryyyy for my double post..but another problem appeared while testing it. Im trying to add ed2k Links for download, usually when clicking the link it starts downloading right away..now i get an error page (internet explorer can not display this page). This happends only with Internet Explorer!
File URL: ed2k link
File Download: No (tried all options actually)
Anyone has an idea?
When i add the link to application URL it does work, but then it has to go through the More link![]()
Can you post a link to your download section?
