I've tested PDF files and they work fine, can you guys post a link to your download sites?

The development site is:
Red5marketing - Home

login as a user: bizguy
password: demo123

There are 2 files listed in the Repository User Menu Link. The first opens the pdf in the browser window, the second downloads the file.

I have set both files for Registered access only (I already tried Public with no difference) and have used File URL in both cases.

Attached is a screenshot of the IonFile file management screen.

Let me know if you need more info,

Ed

bizguy, I've tested your PDF file on my installation and it works fine. This is a server issue.

If either or both of you guys could replace the components/com_ionfiles/download.php file with the one I've attached here it may give us a better idea of why it is failing. I've turned errors on in the attached version.

I have downloaded and installed the download.php file you provided.

Let me know if you need anything else. The server this install is running on uses PHP 4.4.7 and reports the following:

Can one of you give me temporary admin access to your site and PM with username/password? I'm unable to determine anything this way.

Have either of you tried files other than PDFs?

I have only tested PDF-files.

Access information to the backend is sent via PM.

@Friedel, you had a system filepath (IE "/modules/file.pdf") as the URL for the file. Once I changed that to a file URL ("http://www.yourodmain.com/file.pdf") it worked fine and the PDF was no longer 0 in size. The reason this happens is because the download.php file is executed in components/com_ionfiles/ directory. If you have a URL of "/modules/file.pdf" it would look like this: components/com_ionfiles/modules/file.pdf - and this doesn't work. Just make sure you include the full HTTP/URL path for file downloads.

@Jordan, this is tremendously great!
Never thought that the solution is that easy.
And sorry for making the mistake myself!

Thanks a lot for your work and support,
Friedel
