Just wanted to start by saying that any help is very much appreciated.

My problem is that I have been trying for some time now to find a way to create an application that will be able to launch my anti-virus, check for updates, run a scan and then check when the scan is finished automatically.

I know how to start an external program, however I don't know how to start a process of said program. I was initially under the impression that you would need access to some sort of API or the original code perhaps. I'm quite clearly wrong though as I believe the forum member TcM mentioned in one of his posts that he /she had managed to produce a C# application that checked when the Anti-Virus had completed the scan then use Beep to make the computer sound and alert him/her that the scan had completed.

I suppose if someone could maybe show me the basics of this I could crack on and achieve what I'm after. Anyway I would be so happy if anyone out there has an answer
