While you could still sell it you would have to give away the source You should check a lot of places duel license like QT were you can pay money for a non GPL version If you till me what library I could help you look for a BSD one like.

It depends on any exceptions. It's becoming common to favour the GPL with a linking exception over the LGPL.

It becomes more of a nightmare when things like that happen.
You cannot stop software piracy and abusing of source code while you are forced to give away the source code of your program that is meant for being sold. Thank you all. But I am starting to think of making my own library. ![]()

Well the truth is piracy will always happen no program has ever been safe from it even closed source.I thinks it's better to think of the program being secure for the user rather than to think about how to keep it safe from piracy from the user.DRM in my mind only hurts people following the law anyways.I'm all for making money off closed source I just think DRM for piracy is wrong to the user.

The drm people just don't realize: Programs are data. F34A8D... or 10101000111101010010...
Data is, almost by definition, easy to copy. And the problem with encryption, or locking, is that sooner or later the key's got to be sitting, right there, on the user's computer. So a pirate can simply get the key, decrypt or unlock your program, and upload it on bittorrent. And I could argue that the pirate isn't really doing anything bad. He is giving people stuff. You could argue that J. Random Pirate is a Robin-Hood like character, Stealing from rich people, no, corporations, imaginary, impossibly rich people, and giving to middle-class, real people. And as far as I can tell, no singers or actors or even managers have been harmed in any way by such stealing, although, can I call it stealing if no physical object is gone? Sorry, my train of thought was derailed. Anyway, no, you can't use a GPL C library in a closed-source program, unless you find a loophole. Last edited by Aereshaa; 07-06-2008 at 01:03 AM. |
