NO, NO, NO! You don't understand! The criminal used a special file name to trick the OS into believing it was a movie file, when it was actually an application in disguise! It was published and explained in a UK computer magazine, so I think I know what I'm talking about. Now don't doubt me any more.

LOL are you serious? You obviously don't understand how it works. As long as you have the option unchecked hide known file extensions. The stupid *** watchme.wav.exe trick doesn't work. And the only way to "trick" the operating system is to run another program that will change how the OS interprets stuff. If you think that a .txt file can be malicious without your system being "weakened" beforehand I don't know what to tell you. You're obviously being stubborn, you're acting like a little kid who doesn't want to be wrong.

Lol wow...

A weak little kid? I don't know about weak or little, but I'm certainly no adult yet! But I know what I'm talking about. I'm quoting almost directly from a computer magazine. The hacker tricked the OS into believing it was a movie file, when it was just an application in disguise. A txt file would be equally easy, but he presumably chose a movie file because the guy who received it would be more likely to open it. OK?

LOL. Like I said you have to run another program first that will do the "tricking". I couldn't really care less what you read or thought you read in some magazine. You don't know what you're, because if that was the case ever virus maker in the ******* world would use that exact same technique.

And secondly maybe you should try reading my post again. I said 'system being "weakened"', how that refers to you I'm not sure. And stubbornness is often times associated with little kids. I mean really...

This may help you since you don't seem to believe what I'm telling you.

Well, this guy I've heard about didn't need another program to do the 'tricking'. But if you're just gonna be stubborn, then I'm done here.

LOL I'm being stubborn because you heard about some guy. You don't know as much about computing as you think you do. The fact that you think someone can write a .txt and make it malicious by doing a system edit in the text file is truly amazing. Of course you probably didn't even know that you have to use a system edit to do this, really quite sad. Read a magazine article, lol.

Hey, that's really insulting. It wasn't a text file - it was an application that was disguised as a harmless file type!

Okay, and if you look back at my past 5 texts or so I've been talking about text files and .cpp extension files. And you are the one that has continued to reference this media file, which I already posted on earlier. So must I now questioning your reading, comprehension, and information retention skills?

The same technique that was used for the video file could have easily been applied to a text or cpp file. And if you like back at my last 5 texts or so I've been talking about how it was only chosen as a media file as the victim is more likely to open it than a text file.

LOL okay, well if it is so easy to do that technique why don't you go ahead and do it with a text file and I'll even open it on my box, and I will guarantee nothing malicious will happen to my system. Yes I realize that you've been saying that, you're trying to use that fallacious argument in the case of .txt and .cpp files, which is comical. You really should reevaluate your stance on this topic.
