Default Code/Program Request

Hello everyone here at CodeCall. Seems to be like a great community.
This is my first post, and I have a small request. Would anybody help me build/find a program that will:
1. Change ALL files under a selected folder to .doc extension. (including files in all subfolders)
2. Remember all the old extension names in a file.
3. Option to change all extensions back to there original.
The reason I have this request, is because alot of students, including me, want to be able to bypass the file delete almost all school computer administrators have set up. Music, games and whatever get deleted from our user account and I think that changing all the extensions to doc would trick the program to not delete the files.
Thanks alot for advice or a name of a program that is similar.
-Paul

You might be able to do the initial rename with a batch file and output redirected to another file.

Writing it in C/C++ should be fairly easy.

I was thinking a Batch file as well. Seems simple enough and would be even easier on a Linux/Unix shell.

I have no idea which batch commands I should look into. Any tips?

start by researching variables in the batch system. Also the For command.
