Copying my website

I created a website and had an original idea.
A couple of months after the release of my website I found another website just like mine. I emailed the guy asking why he copied it. Is there anything I can do and if so, what?

I don't think there is anything you can do about this. Unless you had some kind of copyright this seems to be perfectly legal. Was the actual text copied or just the idea?

People copy ideas all the time like search engines, dating sites, auctions, etc.

I don't think there is anything you can do unless they stole the exact words and replicated your website.

Did the owner ever respond to your email?

Nothing you can do, even if they have copied everything it would cost you thousands to take it to court and sue, and then you would have to prove the damages you had lost.

I'd just concentrate on making your site as best as it could be!

Since your site was created first, the other site will probably be charged for duplicate content. Of course, if it's just similar and not exact, it probably won't be penalized.
