    trademark or copyright protection

I have an idea i want to try out on the internet. Just a website that I want to attract users to and pages viewed to attract sponsers and incure some revenue through advertisements. How does someone go about a trademark or copy right protection and as far as making sure the people you hire to do the programming don't run off with the idea?

I don't know about trademark but I know that if you put "Copyright to ...." at the bottom of any webpage it is legally copyright protected.

    Hi Masterguns,
Unless your idea is a new concept entirely, you just want to copyright your verbage and design. You can do this by simply listing the copyright logo with the year and your name.

If it's something more detailed, like a specific logo or concept, you may want to look into a trademark or patent. This is a very tedious and expensive process. I wouldn't recommend it unless this is for formalized business purposes.

Copyrights last for seventeen years, but trademarks last forever. For small time Internet game, I wouldn't mess with trademarks or go past putting a copyright notice on the bottom.
