    open source software

Hi, I'm developing some software and I would like to make it available as open source. Is there any legal action I should take before distributing it? What about licenses? To distribute software under the GPL (General Public License) do I have to do anything legal or do I just put the license in a text file in the software package?

Basically, just put the license notice and you're good.
