hi people,
so im going to accept a new freelance job really soon, and i suck at evaluating work for money.
1- is theres some kind of standard system in calculating how much i shall get paid?
2- when do we ask for money?after or before finishing the job?
3- on every website or application i do, do i have to put some kind of "contact us" link?
4- any useful links or blogs to help me get to know how to "freelance"?
yo homie i heard you like one-line codes so i put a one line code that evals a decrypted one line code that prints "i love one line codes"

Start with figuring out the normal hourly rate. What I would do is estimate how many hours it will take you to do the job, add a fudge-factor, and multiply by the rate. You may get screwed the first few times, but you'll get the hang of it. I would consider 1/2 up front, 1/2 at completion pretty standard, but a pay as you work system would work, too.
I agree with WP. Figure out what your time is worth per hour and charge that. I like $30-$60 per hour. Always over-estimate the time required to complete a project and request half up front, half at the end. This ensures that the person hiring is serious about hiring, has the money to hire and will not back out mid-way through. This also gives them confidence that you will complete the project to receive the other half. What do you mean by #3?
I charge $15-$20 an hour but Jordan thinks I charge a low rate, unless he is paying me for something haha
But yea, overestimate on your hours, ask for half upfront unless you know the guy well. If you ask for half upfront after like 3 projects they may think you will never trust them and may back off to find a "friend" to help with their coding work.
I have a hard time paying someone for something I can do.![]()
Most people do
But if I have the ability to do something but not the time, then I see it as me not being able to do it.
Right?
wow, thank you WP , jordan and Blaine
you guys dont know how much that helped me. im meeting the company manager next saterday, since im in Egypt ill use a low rate like Blaine does.

Good luck and make some money!
Yeah, good luck! Don't underestimate how much you are worth.
Have you met the company manager yet?
