I've been fortunate enough to be endowed with some amount of disposable income as of late, and with it I decided to build up enough possessions to have a reasonably decent life. I've gotten a refrigerator, some cooking essentials, and I've built up a somewhat impressive entertainment center. I've got a 32" TV, a Wii, a PS2, and just recently I've now attached a new Fedora machine to it. I've decided that I'm going to become an expat. I'm going to leave the United States. There are many reasons, some of them personal, some political, and a few practical. Regardless, I've decided to do this before the next major election.

Right now I'm looking mostly at Belize, it's a wonderful little Latin American country that has the distinct advantage of being a primarily English speaking nation. It's also got a good amount of fertile, natural land as well as wonderful opportunities ...

I must confess that my position on the free use of software has gotten a bit more... some would say 'extreme,' but I disagree simply because I believe that the status quo is the extreme position, whereas one of accepting only Free Software is, in my opinion, one of judicious moderation. I've been working a while on learning how the PulseAudio and Ogg Vorbis API's work, this is just a document of my experiences so far. I'd like to first point out that the Ogg, Vorbis, and PulseAudio API's are woefully undocumented, so that's something that someone should spend some time fixing.

Both Parabola and DarkLord have recently posted blogs espousing their return to CodeCall. I'm one of those kinds of guys who likes to go with the group, so I'm doing the same thing... here I am! I'll come on here more often now that I got my new computer finally. I'm that guy who likes Python and Haskell, and is pretty good with Java and C++ since those are the standards and whatnot. Oh, I still suck something terrible with PHP.

I've been working at a place called Samy's Camera for about six months now. It's not bad, I work in the main distribution warehouse in Culver City, and for the work the pay is good and it's not too hard to figure out. Physically laborious, sure, but there's nothing bad about some work.

Anyway, the point of this post was something that I was dwelling upon while there, namely that it seems nearly everyone there is attached (IE married or with girlfriend/boyfriend). At first I didn't think ...
