Why in the hell would you try using Ubuntu 8.10 in a VirtualBox virtual machine on an old 2003 laptop with a 1.8Ghz processor and 512mb of RAM, especially when the laptop seems to want to explode? How many times have you heard "Linux doesn't have viruses"? Seriously. This is fanboyism to the max. Before I keep rambling on, I want to make 2 things clear - 1) I don't have anything against Linux, except that I have to run it in a virtual machine since no distro has any drivers for any of my modems and 2) Yes, Linux is more secure then Windows in regards to viruses.

So, although being completely Microsoft oriented my whole computing life, as well as being a completely Windows developer, I had never touched the holy grail of the Free Software and Open Source world, Linux.
