As you can see I didn't know what the Sixth Sense Project was, and that post marked the beginning of my exploration of an absolutely amazing project. This program allows you to bring your digital world wherever you go. "But we can already do that with our cell phones, can't we?" Yes this is true, but what's amazing about the Sixth Sense Project (we'll call it the SSP for short) is that it allows you to take that information you can receive using your cell phone and seamlessly paste it onto your world in a way that will blow you away.

When we encounter something, someone or some place, we use our five natural senses to perceive information about it; that information helps us make decisions and chose the right actions to take. But arguably the most useful information that can help us make the right decision is not naturally perceivable with our five senses, namely the data, information and knowledge that mankind has accumulated about everything and which is increasingly all available online. Although the miniaturization of computing devices allows us to carry computers in our pockets, keeping us continually connected to the digital world, there is no link between our digital devices and our interactions with the physical world. Information is confined traditionally on paper or digitally on a screen. SixthSense bridges this gap, bringing intangible, digital information out into the tangible world, and allowing us to interact with this information via natural hand gestures. ‘SixthSense’ frees information from its confines by seamlessly integrating it with reality, and thus making the entire world your computer.

This little contraption will change the way we do things. Imagine being able to make a phone call, without your holding your phone.

Imagine being able to take a picture with a simple gesture, or being able to not just read your newspaper, but interact with it. How would you like to watch that sports event posted on the front page of your newspaper without going to your computer?

The SSP can do amazing things. You can watch a movie, or play a video game, and even browse the web with just a piece of paper. Don't believe me? Watch and be amazed at what the Sixth Sense Project can do.

I posted this because I was very interested in the SSP, and I wanted to share that interest with you. I hope you enjoyed, and will want to share the interest you have with others as well.

Thanks for reading!

Kind of neat, but using a netbook, tablet or smart phone still seems like the ideal choice for portable computing. I just can't see myself using that sixth sense thing.

A lot of this is just hype:

You still have to hold your hand up in the air and dial numbers. Voice activated technology could be more convenient anyway.
Imagine being able to take a picture with a simple gesture
I don't think it can get any simpler than pressing a button on your camera.
or being able to not just read your newspaper, but interact with it. How would you like to watch that sports event posted on the front page of your newspaper without going to your computer?
Internet is like this. Many devices can browse the Internet nowadays, not just a desktop computer.

Yeah, if you ignore that device around your neck.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bash or hate on this thing, it just doesn't seem that impressive to me. Maybe I'm missing the point though. If you still want to spark my interest, please do.

Nah, thats all I got if you still have the slightest bit of interest you could always visit their website.
I understand where your coming from, but its fun to imagine what it will be developed into.
Well thats just just my opinion

Possibly the next hype, not neccesarily the whole thing but the idea and incorporating it into different kinds of objects.
I'll give it a few more years yet though. ;p

A few years should do it, by then people might actually be able to purchase one of those. Thanks for reading lor

i agree with guest. this is simply re-inventing the wheel. same ****, different package. i cant even imagine the battery life of that projector mounted on your neck. just spitballing but wouldnt a smartphone screen use less energy then a projector and camera?

I don't see how is this re-inventing the wheel, explain?

I think Ill stick with my cute little phone
this is one of those big hits that don't get to the street and public, i just cant visualize myself or anyone else using it in his/her everyday life.... too much indulgence IMO.
but programming applications on something like that would be really fun i guess

I agree with you atheium, I probably wouldn't want to splash my personal info and photos up on a wall in public. Awkward when people walk by.
Thanks for your comments amrosama and atheium
