I plan to run my programming knowledge from desktop programming to web programming. I usually use Liberty BASIC for desktop programming and still learning very hard about C/C++/JAVA to tackle Assembly (I'm not sure,). Along that time, i will also try Run BASIC (web programming from Shoptalk Systems, powered by Liberty BASIC). I confused, am i use home based operation or buy VPS hosting? I don't have enough money if fee is very expensive, except i ask for my parent to pay hosting fee, .

If my site have started, i will put it in my signature.

Hope this can be realized soon.

A vps is exensive and is really only needed if you wish to personalize your version of Apache and PHP to fit your needs. Shared hosting on quite a few hosts is cost-effective for a hobby site (or small business) and is secure as long as you follow the most basic concepts of security (permissions, where you store temporary files etc).

I'd personally recommend Lunarhost and Host Gator, both provide high bandwidth (infinite within reason) and etc. for $9-20/month, and if you wish for something better you can move to their vps package without worry.

I'm not sure I understand your intentions. If you plan to use BASIC for server side scripting, you will have to find a web host that supports it. If that's not available you will need a VPS or home-based server. If that's the case, VPS will have good bandwidth if you're willing to pay. Bandwidth for a home-based server will depend on your computer's Internet connection, but it's likely to be very slow.

Wow did I read that correctly . *drinks my coffee*.

Do it on a home server, it should perfectly suit your needs. There's no use in buying a monster truck if you only wished to use the radio on it, you know? A vps is silly for a comical idea of using BASIC to do more than fun experimenting.

You can purchase a real domain name ($10/yr) and point it to your home server, if it's dynamic you can use no-ip.com's sevices etc. A hundred times cheaper.

Thanks Nullw0rm and Guest for your suggest.
I decided to purchase shared hosting package. I don't know much about hosting related, such as router, etc if i use home based server. Because Run BASIC is not supported by many web hosting, so I use service from runbasichosting.com that has ready to hosting Run BASIC applications.
