Well, it's been a year since I was last was here. Actually over a year.

I really can't explain why I've been away for so long. No, I haven't been inside or on the missions to Darkest Africa. Just life.

Christmas, in Canada, was dreadful. I'd gotten engaged, and had met the family on a few occasions, but cooped up in a house in coldest Canada, unable to go out. Yep cabin Fever. It all ended February. By email.

Back in the UK and work was really hectic all summer. Often working 12 days on and 2 off, it was difficult to get home. The work was often from 7 till midnight.

September brought some good news. I got engaged again, this time to an old friend from NJ.

October brought bad news - my fiancees family fell apart, and one of the two kids ended up in hospital, for observation.

Life. It never goes smoothly!

    Well, can't say I've ever had the honor of meeting you. Welcome back to the community, hope you'll be around more often. Things have changed in the CC, I'd bet.

    When I worked in security I'd do shifts just as long, fortunately for me my job was a lot smoother. I hope the problems in your new fiancees life aren't going to interfere with your future plans.

    Glad you came back. Sounds like your year was rough. Life is full of ups and downs though. Hopefully this year will turn out better.

    Thanks all

    I've set myself a couple of New Year's Resolution:

    1) Learn about Linux,
    2) Learn about MySQL
    3) Learn about PHP.

    OK, that's 3, but nobody's perfect.

    Well, Christmas in New York with friends, and New Year in London, again with friends.

    Both cities were cold, neither was particularly busy.

    I'm keeping up with my New Year's Resolutions and using Ubuntu where I can. I've converted 2 laptops and one EEE netbook to Linux, although I can't run Skype on the latter.

    Office apps run so much more quickly than MS; I wish I'd converted years ago!

    I just got a new laptop running Ubuntu, and am loving it. Thinking about going back to Windows just irritates me... and then I get to work again

    I'm home, and it's snowing, so I'm 'working' on the kitchen table. I wish AutoCad ran in Linux.

    A question - why are the last two blog entries in Pink? Nice color, but ...

    It's snowing here in London too (heavily!).

    So you got engaged twice, what happened to the first one if you don't mind me asking.

    Hi James.

    I wish I knew. K is in Canada, separated and living withing aged parents. K's mother is very domineering.

    All I know is I got an email from K entitled 'US', and asking where to send my stuff. I suspect mother is behind it all. I was gutted for weeks; It did hurt. I mean - dumped by email
