Response to an ad hominem

I would like to point out that lor's editing of my post on her blog ("I'm a homo") is an ad hominem, and thus a logical fallacy. Not that there's anything wrong with being gay, of course.
Here's what I originally wrote:
I am not, however, thankful to Microsoft. The belief that Microsoft made computing more accessible to the general population is a popular misconception among computer newbies. In reality, Microsoft has done almost nothing to contribute to the advancement of information technology. There have been many innovating companies; Microsoft did not contribute to their efforts; they merely superceded them, i.e. put them out of business (deliberately). The first desktop operating systems were pioneered mostly by Digital Research, starting with CP/M. Microcomputers were popularized by companies like Apple and Commodor long before Microsoft became a major corporation. Microsoft had nothing to do with the creation of a GUI either as Apple had it on their computers while Microsoft was still struggling with MS-DOS (which is really nothing more than a ripoff of QDOS). The internet was conceived by the Department of Defense with ARPANet and made more accessible by browsers like Mosaic and Netscape. Just because Microsoft is the most successful company does not make them the pioneer. That's like saying that because the US is the world's most successful democracy, it must have been the first one (forget those Greeks).

To anyone who claims that Microsoft has revolutionized the IT industry, I would like you to name some of the original innovations they made.
