Default Blogging

For a while I've been considering purchasing the Blog addon for vBulletin. You can view a demo here: vBulletin Community Forum - Blogs. It would allow you, as a member, to create your own blog page and talk about anything you like (preferably programming). The only question I have is: "Will anyone use it?"

I'm not a blogger myself so I doubt I will use it much. Will you use it? Will you create a blog under your username and actively blog in it?

I voted "yes."

I'm not sure how much I'm going to use it though, but I'll give it a chance. I think it'd be interesting to read other's blogs, so if I'm not going to use it much, I hope others will.

i vote yes

This seems like it would be useful for long drawn out projects for which I usually have multiple q's which I end up posting. With a blog I could just updated any issues i had and any new code that I have written can easily be seen by those who wish to add their two cents. The real issue I have with this is will anyone read it and give advice or will I still have to post it in the forum?

Smart POLL, and wise to check before you go to all the trouble.

As for myself I would not Blog, but I would read a coder's blog that tried to teach newbies (like myself) bits-n-pieces of coding. I don't code anything, but at times I do go in and make revisions to code like changing templates, etc and usually ONLY while following very specific instructions.

Through that effort, I've learned little bits here and there but have no great understanding of it all.

Anyway, just my 2¢ on the matter.

Sorry,

I just don't find blogs to be particularly useful. It is rare enough to have people post any useful answers (if anyone answers at all!) in forums. A Blog will just dilute that further.

I'm going to ditto nekhoma's answer. I never blog. I don't find them useful -- not even the blogs of such "elite" programmer as Scott Guthrie. If I need information, I go straight for genuinely published articles and forum discussions.
