Commission Junction is another big PPC company, and I've been looking at it and Chitika. I've heard good things about Commission Junction, but unlike Chitika, I've never seen it in action. Anybody here use it?
Yes, it's a disaster.
Problem 1: There are so many participants, so you need to work hard to come up with a new way to use CJ's marketing materials. Otherwise, you'll get caught in duplicate content filter.
Problem 2: CJ is known to cancel your account automatically if you happen to be performing poorly for a couple of months.
Problem 3: Too many unoriginal links and banners.

They just randomly close your account for low activity??

That's right. Actually "systematically" not "randomly." Let's say that you set up a site using CJ, and let's say that you cannot get much traffic for 3 months or so. ... what happens? Your account will be closed and CJ doesn't even notify you.Originally Posted by Void

That's not very nice, what if you have a lot of money in your account? They pay it out, right? That would suck if you made good money and didn't get paid.
That's a good question. I don't know the answer, but my guess is that you'll get the payout. I don't know about the account activation. I should check my account actually. It's been a while since I checked my CJ account last time.Originally Posted by Kaabi

cloneBaby:
Nope, they wont pay off.
Also, they've made it clear in thier terms of use so its impossible to sue them for large losses:
Editing, Deleting and Modification:
We reserve the right in our sole discretion to change, edit or delete any documents, information or other content appearing on the Site.
Indemnification:
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold Commission Junction and their respective directors, officers, shareholders, employees, agents, attorneys, advertisers, and publishers (collectively, "Our Affiliated Parties") harmless from any liability, loss, claim or expense, including reasonable attorneys' fees, related to your use of the Site or violation of this Agreement.
Well Google basically says the same thing, but still, Google is more trustworthy (even though they delete accounts left and right).
Commission Junction made another lousy change recently. All text link ads are displayed using JavaScript, meaning that these ads will not be visible to search engines. So, for example, suppose that you advertise "facial cream". Well, search engines did see the keyword "facial cream" within CJ ad in the past, but it doesn't see it any longer. You need to do a lot more work to promote their products and services.

I use CJ, but haven't made any money with them yet. I really dislike their interface, and the lack of linking options. It can be difficult to promote certain merchants if you can't create custom links.
I'm also annoyed with the recent announcement to move to Javascript links mentioned by cloneBaby. I hate Javascript links! You can't right click them to open them in a new tab/window. Whoever came up with this idea should be beaten senseless with a book on usability.![]()
