Re: software protection
Although the availability of legal protection for software has increased rapidly around the world over the past fifteen years, the scope and the feasibility of enforcement of that protection continues to vary significantly by country. The use of the Special 301 provisions of the 1988 U.S. Trade Act has resulted in greater protection for software, as well as other intellectual property, in several countries. The Business Software Alliance and the Software & Information Industry Association have been effective forces for monitoring software piracy around the world, promoting legislative and attitudinal changes and taking legal actions to enforce copyright protection.
