You could use a RegEx for that - but for your particular scenario, you could just do:

   If Not String.IsNullOrEmpty(bstrUrl) AndAlso bstrUrl.IndexOf("writeley.com") >= 0 Then
       ' String contains writeley.com
   Else
       ' String does not contain writeley.com
   End If
