I am on a Home Package with 1&1 at current. When I develop pages, the most limiting factor is always the awful templates provided. I have switched to directly editing via FTP, as opposed to the built in software, but after a recent bout of irritation, I have had enough. Therefore, I have decided to create my own design. Pretty much, I'm starting again.
However, I need some guidance. I will be using CSS to manage the colours etc, but I have two dilemmas:
1. I want to be able to update the theme used in one location. I can change the colours/sizes in CSS, but I want to be able to edit the whole table layout in one location, which updates to the rest of the pages. For example, if I decide to move the navigation bar to the right-hand side, I want to be able to just do this in one place, and it updates it everywhere.
2. I would like to be able to edit the contents of the nav bar, top bar, etc. in one central location. Everything other than the main content should be controlled elsewhere - so if I add a new page to the site, I can just update the nav bar in one place, and it appears in the nav bar in every page.
Any advice? Thanks. Xav
