So it's GUI you're going to make?
You can pick almost every language that supports GUI, because all decent languages have support for arithmetics. Java could be a choice, but you could also pick a .NET-language. My suggestion would be that you choose C#. It have some great tools, and it should be relative easy to do what you want.
