What do you know about this country and what do you think about it?
Have you ever been in Russia or have you ever visited russian websites at least ('ru' domain)?
The rumors has it that people from USA and Europe have a lot of prejudices and biased opinions? Is it true?

There is a lot of prejudices towards Russia from the US. I know that TV makes it look very poor and often run-down. I wouldn't mind visiting Russia though, the architecture is fantastic. I've also heard the land is beautiful.

Is it true they wrestle bears there?

I live in Europe and there's a lot of prejudices from here as well. Everything we hear about is corruption, homicides, killings, poorness, and so on. We're never hearing about the great stuff that Russia probably have.

All this make me... not afraid of Russia, but it's not the first country on my list, of which countries I want to travel. I think it's a shame. It would be great if we could hear other stuff about Russia.

I'm thinking about learning Russian, though. I like languages, and I like to study them. Latin and Russian are on the top of my list for the next languages to study. Currently I'm studying Finnish on my own, while I'm studying English and German at school.

I think a lot of the prejudices towards Russia come from the closed stance it took during the cold war. Since the USSR collapsed, it has been discovered that Soviet mathematicians had discovered a lot of the same theorems (resulting in new names added to theorems and Russian as one of the options for the language requirement for many Doctorate programs). Economically, Russia doesn't appear to have converted to capitalism well, and there are a lot of reports of underhanded dealings with former soviet block countries that don't agree with Russian policies/agendas. This makes me, at least, suspicious towards the country as a whole. Having issues with Russia not being supportive of US foreign policy and blocking efforts in the UN doesn't improve my opinion.

Having said all that, those are more about the Russian government. I suspect the Russian people are great people who are trying to make a living, just like everyone else.

I don't know much about it other than were it is located although I would like to visit it. I don't even know any Russian people so there isn't much I can say about it.

I think that Russia is catching up technologically and that there still is a lot of crime there. I have the impression that it is a harder life there than here in America.

Well I too live in Europe.. and all I know is that Russian girls are cool many girls from Russia are coming here.. although let's say it, most of them don't have a fixed and 'honest' job.. I think you know what I mean.
